25-Jun-2002 - Halle, Objekt 5

Bobo & Tim Schallenberg acoustic

It was a home match for Bobo, so it was no wonder "Objekt 5"'s 200 tickets sold out. >Objekt 5 is basically a room with a stage and a few seats. The support act >Frogcircus from Las Palmas had a large audience to warm up. They were well received and got some applause.

They were through after about 45 minutes, followed by a brief resetting of the stage. Then Bobo and Tim Schallenberg came on, took their seats and started immediately. The first song was Beg Your Heart from the first album, followed by Hole in Heaven, another one from "the old days" as Bobo announced it.

Then came two songs from the Passing Stranger album, Furious Sun and Dreams. As many people in the audience knew them, they sang along loudly. That was it then for the old times, next Bobo presented some songs from Alaska, which haven't been published so far.

The first one was Zero, the next two are presumably called I Am Still Yours and Nothings Left But You. Rain Of Change and Miner Of Sensation ended the first part of the concert. The lasting applause showed how much the audience liked the quiet new songs.

The first encores were two more Alaska songs: You Are As Far As Alaska and Now Or Never might be the titles. Bobo and Tim briefly left the stage, but Bobo came back alone soon after and sang a solo-song, possibly called You Know.

The third encore was a song together with Tim, named No More Tears. Too bad it was over after 55 Minutes. But even if it was short: It was really wonderful and worth every single one of the 350 km's I had to travel.

Thanks to the Halle audience for a great evening!

After the concert I was able to have a few words with Bobo and got the following info from her: There may be further concerts in East German cities in fall. She just recorded a new song for a sequel to Last Words, which will appear eventually. Currently there is no record company willing to publish the existing Alaska material. Maybe a live album one day, but nothing is confirmed.

26-Jun-2002 - Leipzig, Moritzbastei

Bobo & Tim Schallenberg acoustic

quoting:Concert review by Christian Sell (29-Jun-2002)

The >Moritzbastei is Leipzig's culture center, a huge underground vault with several rooms and discos. The concert took place in a separate room. Nobody was interested in the support act >Frogcircus, the vault only filled after Bobo showed up. The acoustic was magnificent and I managed to be right up front (which I hadn't been in Halle).

The setlist was the same as in Halle, and the atmosphere was great.

It was just as great as the day before, too bad it ended after the last encore. Soon afterwards they flooded the room with heavy metal music for the disco. No talking was possible, so Bobo vanished backstage real soon. So it wasn't quite as nice as in Halle. The music, however, was perfect, so I left the Moritzbastei quite happy.
