Concert report by Janko (trans. by KlK)
B obo had already performed at the Knaack at the beginning of her career. So it was no surprise that she, as well as Rammstein and >Knorkator, was one of the main acts of the "50 years Knaack"-weekend. Saturday night started with two or three bands. Especially >The Marvellers [from Berlin] did a great performance. Bobo and her guitarist came to the stage at half past 11 with two acoustic guitars. The club was packed.

The first two songs were from the first BiWWH album (??? and Hole in Heaven). The next two were from the 2nd album (I think they were White Wooden Houses and Furious Sun). The crowd was thrilled. The following songs were from Alaska or new, but were cheered just as much. So it was acoustic guitar rock with Bobo's wonderful voice, comparable to what you could experience on stage with ALASKA. No longer as playful as the first BiWWH album, but excellent handmade music with a wonderful voice.

It was no big show - 2 musicians, 2 guitars, 2 barstools. But the woman herself is the event - she and her voice. After about 45 minutes it was over, two encores and off she was - hopefully not for long.

1999 to 2001

Two performances with Saal Drei took place in November 2001. These were:

02-Nov-2001 20:00Jena, Friedenskirche (support: Talking Horns)
03-Nov-2001 20:00Weimar, Kirche Kromsdorf

The Website of Jazzmeile Thüringen contains a (german language) page announcing these >concerts. This also contains a promotional photo of Bobo.

Personal impressions of Antje Kuhnt (trans. by CMS)
I quite liked it, though I could have done without the "Talking Horns", who opened the show. I can't think of a more extreme contrast. Saal III and Bobo were great. Though some parts had not exactly a meditative effect on me, rather I felt uneasy. By the end of the show the projections and the swelling music were rather frightening. The Friedenskirche is not exactly a cozy place, though it had the right ambiance for this concert. Bobo herself is just marvelous, her voice is exciting and she has a lot of charisma. Too bad I had to leave right after the concert, but at least I managed to pick up a CD.
